Teeing up for golfing glory days

A Coastal town with majestic golf courses and a throng oftourists queuing to enjoy them.

Not St Andrews, but Aberdeen.

A businessman believes the whole of the North-east is poised forgolfing glory.

Brian Hendry, who is bidding to turn Hazlehead's No.1 course intoa world-beater, said this could be the year the promise starts to berealised.

An Aberdeenshire Council committee backed plans for a pounds115million development at Banchory-Devenick where a course will bedesigned by Paul Lawrie.

Mr Hendry said: "I was with Paul recently and we were bothdelighted. At the moment Aberdeen is a passing place in golf terms.
