SYDNEY, Dec 12 AAP - Main stories in ABC's World Today:

* Prime Minister Julia Gillard will on Monday promote some of her key political supporters
in a reshuffle of her ministry, following the retirement of Senator Nick Sherry from the
frontbench. Tanya Plibersek and Bill Shorten are expected to be among those elevated to
cabinet, although Mr Shorten's apparent promotion is raising eyebrows within the government.

* The Greens and Coalition are both scathing about the outcome of the international
climate change talks in Durban, where an agreement was reached to move towards a single
global treaty by 2015. While Climate Change Minister Greg Combet has hailed it a "breakthrough",
the opposition says the talks have been a failure because they didn't achieve an immediately
binding agreement.

* Professor Will Steffen, director of ANU's Climate Change Institute and a federal
government science adviser, says the Durban agreement is a major step forward because
of the co-operation of developed and developing nations. But Professor Steffen said the
challenge now is to level-off emissions at the global scale by the middle of the decade
and not wait until 2020.
